What teachers and parents ask us

 

Is LinoClass compliant with Quebec's Law 25?
Yes. Student and parent data are hosted in Canada. Data collection is minimal, consent is explicit, a privacy officer (RRP) is named, and a data processing agreement is in place with our infrastructure provider. LinoClass is also PIPEDA (Canadian federal) and GDPR (European) compliant by default.
How much does LinoClass cost?
Two tiers. Free: no time limit and no credit card, up to 35 students. LinoClass Pro: CA$79 per year per teacher (about $6.58 per month) plus applicable sales tax, with a 30-day free trial (card required). Pro also includes priority access to every new feature, and a points system is coming soon. No multi-year commitments, no hidden fees.
Why isn't LinoClass completely free?
Because a free app is always paid for in one of two ways: advertising, or selling data. We do neither. Running LinoClass costs money every month: the servers in Quebec that hold your students' photos and work, the emails sent to parents, and the time spent improving the tool. The paid plan covers that. It is also what keeps the free plan genuinely free, with no time limit and no credit card. Put another way: you are the customer, not the product.
My students are 6. How do they log in without passwords?
Each class gets a QR valid for the full school year. Students scan it from the home page and they're in. No passwords to remember, nothing to reset. For safety, QR codes only work between 6 AM and 6 PM on school days, and sessions expire after 8 hours of inactivity.
Do parents need to install an app?
No. Parents get a magic link by email that logs them in directly. No account, no app, no password. A weekly digest goes out every Friday.
Does it work on iPads and Chromebooks?
Yes. LinoClass is a progressive web app (PWA) that runs on any device with a modern browser. It can be added to the home screen to behave like a native app, with offline support for reading.
Is there an iPhone or iPad app?
Native iPhone and iPad apps are coming soon. In the meantime LinoClass already runs in your device's browser, and you can add it to your home screen to open it like an app. Your class and your data stay the same: the native app will be a faster shortcut, not a different product.
What happens to our data if I stop using LinoClass?
You can export the full portfolio as a PDF or downloadable archive at any time. On request, all data associated with your account is deleted within 30 days, including backup copies.
How long does setup take?
About 15 minutes for the first class. Account, student roster, print the class QR. Parents get their invitation automatically.
Is LinoClass bilingual?
Yes. Fully translated interface in Canadian French and Canadian English. Each parent, teacher, and student picks their language. Automated communications (digest, notifications) respect each user's preference.
