Every Friday at 4 pm, you receive an email summarizing your child's week. Here is what it contains. This guide explains the anatomy of the digest, how to manage it (unsubscribe, change email address, add a second parent), and why it is designed differently from the usual notifications from school apps.
The 30-second version
The digest arrives Friday at 4 pm ET. It only contains information about your child, not other students. You can unsubscribe in one click from the email itself. If you want both parents to receive it, ask the teacher to add the second email address.
The anatomy of the weekly digest
The digest is a structured email divided into sections. Here is what it looks like:
French: Guided reading at level B. Livia read 3 short texts and answered comprehension questions.
World Discovery: Introduction to the seasons. Livia completed a classification drawing.
Friday: professional development day, no school.
The email above is a representative example. The actual content depends on what your child's teacher recorded during the week. Some weeks will be more detailed than others, depending on the classroom's workload.
What the digest contains (and what it doesn't)
What it contains
- Activities and subjects covered during the week
- The teacher's observations on your child's progress
- A link to photos of work or assignments recorded in the portfolio
- Reminders and upcoming events for the following week
- Any direct message the teacher addressed specifically to your family
What it does not contain
- Information about other students in the class
- Letter grades or report cards (these come through your school's official channels)
- Advertising or sponsored content
- Links to social media
How to unsubscribe
Quick unsubscribe (1 click)
- Open any LinoClass digest email.
- Scroll to the bottom of the email.
- Click the "Unsubscribe from weekly digest" link.
- A confirmation page opens. Click "Confirm unsubscribe."
The unsubscribe takes effect immediately. You will not receive the digest the following Friday. Direct messages from the teacher will still arrive normally if your email address remains associated with the classroom.
To resubscribe
If you change your mind, send an email to support@linoclass.ca with your child's name and school. We will reactivate the digest for your address within 24 business hours.
How to change your email address
Option 1: through the teacher (recommended)
- Contact your child's teacher directly (by email or agenda note).
- Give them your old address and your new address.
- The teacher updates the address in your child's profile in LinoClass.
- The change takes effect with the next Friday digest.
Option 2: from your parent account
If you created a parent account on the LinoClass portal:
- Log in to app.linoclass.ca.
- Click your name in the top right corner.
- Go to "Account settings."
- Update the email address and confirm via email.
How to add a second parent
Adding through the teacher
LinoClass lets you associate multiple email addresses with a student's space. To add a second parent (or any other person who should follow the portfolio):
- Ask the teacher to add the second email address to your child's profile.
- The second address will receive an invitation link to access the portfolio.
- From the following week, both addresses will receive the Friday digest.
There is no limit to the number of email addresses associated with a student. Grandparents, guardians, or educators can also be added if the teacher and parents agree.
Privacy and Law 25
The weekly digest is sent exclusively to the email address your family provided to the teacher, as part of the parental consent signed at the start of the year or during registration. The email does not contain public links: the link to your child's portfolio only works if you are authenticated.
LinoClass hosts all data on Canadian servers. No information about your child is shared with third parties for commercial purposes. To learn more, see our Law 25 guide for teachers, which covers in detail the compliance obligations your school must meet.
If you have questions about what data LinoClass holds about you or your child, you can make a formal request at support@linoclass.ca. We respond within 30 days, in compliance with Law 25.
